Find your perfect medical specialty
You’ll often hear doctors say medicine is a very broad church – and it is. It requires all types of people and personalities. Doctors go through a long, shared training and yet often end up doing very different things. Just compare a surgeon to an obstetrician, or an emergency physician to a dermatologist. With so many medical specialties, the choices can be daunting, particularly at an undergraduate level.
Health Leaders Australia HLA and General Practice Training Queensland (GPTQ) have developed this resource to assist you (medical students and prevocational doctors) to make informed choices about your career.
HLA operates Queensland’s Australian Medical Council (AMC) Accredited Prevocational Medical Accreditation Authority, and GPTQ is accredited by both the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) as one of Australia’s Regional Training Organisations that administers and delivers the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) Program.
We collaborate to provide medical career development planning support resources for people considering, or already undertaking an education and training program for a medical career in Australia.
